Botero Square
Botero Square

It contains the largest exhibition of outdoor sculptures in the world by the Antioquian artist Fernando Botero. There are 23 monumental works donated by the master that make this place one of the main landmarks of the city and an icon of artistic expression.
The Plaza, also known as the Park of Sculptures, has an area of approximately 7,500 square metres and is surrounded by the Museum of Antioquia and the Rafael Uribe Uribe Uribe Palace of Culture, a must for visitors.

Antioquia Museum
Antioquia Museum

Founded in 1881, it is the first museum to be founded in the department of Antioquia and the second to open its doors in Colombia. In its rooms are exhibited more than 5,000 pieces covering all periods of the history and artistic expressions of Antioquia and Colombia, as well as temporary and travelling exhibitions of national and foreign artists. The artist Fernando Botero, a great patron of the museum, has a permanent exhibition of his collection of 188 oil paintings, drawings and sculptures in various formats.

Rafael Uribe Uribe Palace of Culture

The majesty of this neoclassical Gothic style building, designed and built by the Belgian architect Agustín Goovaerts between 1929 and 1937, is part of Medellín's cultural and patrimonial heritage.
It is currently the headquarters of the Institute of Culture and Heritage of Antioquia and houses treasures such as the Historical Archive of Antioquia, the Hernán Restrepo Duque Departmental Sound Library, the Musical Documentation Centre, among others.
The dome of the Palace hosts activities such as "Cinema in the Dome", an initiative of the Institute to promote reflection and knowledge through the language of film, on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4:00 p.m., free admission.

Metropolitan Cathedral Basilica
Metropolitan Cathedral Basilica

It is one of the ten largest churches in the world built in fired brick. It was designed by the French architect Carlos Carré and took 55 years to build.
It is the main church of the Archdiocese of Medellín. Because of its historical value and its Romanesque architecture, it has been a National Monument of Colombia since 1982. It also has a small museum of religious art with a collection of approximately 40 paintings and 15 sculptures. Visitors can appreciate the Spanish stained glass windows, the baldachin, the pulpit and the marble holy water fonts.
